  1. My suggestion is to draw the ship. I love how the elements fit together quite nicely. I just feel that the ship should be drawn to add that line value to make it stand out some. It kind of disappears at this moment for me.

  2. I really like that you included all the steps of your process, it really helps me to see how you got where you are. I think it looks really good. The ship does blend in a bit with the waves since they're both image traced, but I think it works. It creates a visual complexity that at first glance you may not notice, but that draws you in. Maybe add a second ship to round it out. It looks great, keep it up!

  3. I love seeing the progress photos! My suggestion would also be to alter the detail within the ship. Maybe even simplify it a bit.
I had an idea with your concept: Use clothing as sails for the ships. For example, have a t-shirt or a pair of pants attached to the ship. The struggle then would be to translate the shape enough for them to be identifiable as clothes.

  4. I agree that she ship kinda disappears, but if you don't want to do the ship by hand, add some shadows for it in the water. It will make it stand out more that way.

I think I would redo the knobs at the top, maybe even drawing them by hand in a more stark style, something that you would see on the manual for a washing machine maybe. As they are now, the shadow between them draws your eyes to much and you loose the knob.

I would also smack a Whirlpool logo on, instead the one you have.

  5. Looking great man. I am also having a little issue with the boat and to me it more on the gradients that you used on it. I would just tweak them and using lighter colors so that it gets lost with in the photo. cause right now it is competing with the middle focal point. Making my eyes move back and forth.

  6. I absolutely love your concept and I can see that you're really working with it in super creative ways to give such a dramatic effect. There's definitely more you can do to fix up the ship such as maybe not making it so detailed maybe just a little less even. Good work!!

  7. I like the ship! maybe just having it overall being lighter would help it pop out more. also something to think about is all the white space, in the lower part of the page seems left out! So maybe adding some more details within that area could help it out

  8. This is cool man. I like how you added the ship. I think you should play around with the washer knobs more to try and add more detail and to show the brand name - Jordon

  9. I love the ship! I think that adding some splash where the ship is hitting the water will draw more attention to it, and help convey the chaotic nature of the whirlpool. I love this concept though and you have done a really nice job with placing the whirlpool inside the washer. Can't wait to see where this goes.

  10. This is looking incredible!! The gradients, lines, and everything is beautiful!
The only thing I noticed is that the ship kind of gets lost in the water, because the tones are so similar. I think if you play around with the contrast and colors, it will help the ship stand out and make the piece even better.
    Awesome job!!

  11. Like the ship, could it go over the side or somwhere other than inside the washer? Don't let the image trace lure you into not learning the bezier pen tool. The tendency is to let the software do all the drawing for you and you will have very little control over the image if you tie your hands like that. Why settle for the GEl logo that came with the original image, why not find a better reproduction (Whirlpool brand?) and just add it yourself? Also we are missing the real challenge of the assignment, to transition from one object to another by combining these objects. Could there be a cut away view of the bottom of the washer to show us things inside to get the transition part working? The knobs to me look unresolved right now, why not find better looking knobs?

  12. I like how it's coming together! I feel like the ship needs to be mixed into the water better. If a ship was in a whirlpool, it would be getting hit and covered by the water. You should do something similar. It would be interesting if you put in octopus tentacles of something around the boat to add more visual interest. Overall, nice piece and I'm excited to see the final piece!
