Project 5 Proposal
For my final project, I will be continuing my previous project to create a group of images as high of quality as possible. In total, this project will consist of eight images, all put together to form one large narrative through multiple panels, similar to a comic book. When completed, these imaged will be laid out like so:
Through the use of the figure in the images and the continuous ground-line, I plan to create a continual narrative, with its meaning only hinted at by a single word beneath each image. This is a project I want to viewers to look at from afar to see the big picture, but also be compelled to look closely to see its details, which will be the real meat of the project. As you can see by the completed images below, I'm halfway finished with the project, but still have a long way to go before it is completed.
When completed, I plan to print out each image and hang them up side-by side in order to arrange them in the composition I want. To give you a sense of scale, the final composition of all the images will be around 32 in x 50 in.
This is a great idea. Something you could think about is the white space around the photo how is can help your image. Might be nice to see the shape as a Polaroid feeling. So that we have something we connect to in our own life. Making it a little personal.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this project! I also love the style that you're choosing! Just keep in mind the light source, I think it will help if feel more chosesive
ReplyDeleteI think this is really lovely. Your drawing style is great, and the purple-y color scheme you are setting up really helps to make it cohesive. I would just say to be really conscious of the way you are applying color and make sure it stays consistent throughout the pieces.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that really keeps this cohesive is the gradient of the sky/ background in those two images. I think that using elements like that throughout the images (not necessarily in every one) will help bind this piece together as a whole.
Also, I'm really excited to see what all of the text says. Just including one word on each has made me so curious, haha
Your drawings are beautiful! I love the combination of the digital and hand drawn. Do the lines of the hill line up? if they do, it would be really cool to make colors in the sky line up to give them a cohesive appearance.
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely! I can't wait to see the rest of the pieces. Very nice style of image making you use. Also, I like the sequence layout.
ReplyDeleteYour drawings are mind-blowingly good!! The colors, the style, all of it is spot on. I love that the layout of the pictures is a hill, to match with the story and the hills she's climbing. I really can't wait to see it finished and how it all blends together.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I think you have your idea mapped out pretty well. I like the flow the layout is going to give and I agree with what Victoria said about the story going with the layout of the pieces.
ReplyDeleteAs I said before, your illustrations are awesome. As is the whole idea behind piece - existing on separate panels but creating a sort of panorama that gives you the whole overview is great.
ReplyDeleteI think you should consider what others have mentioned about the sky color. Using a little gradient to a side to show passing of the time would tie the piece together even more.
In a perfect world, or a gallery, I would love to see you making more in-between panels. Showing what the character had to do to get where they are. Just small snippets that I would rip to pieces and scatter on the floor underneath the displayed panorama. It could symbolize the memories we have decided to discard, or aspects of a story we consciously decide to omit.
I would also think that printing just the pictures (without the aged paper texture) and mounting them onto actual aged(or fancy craft) paper would be an interesting addition (and challenge).
I absolutely love the way you are heading. I feel that colors are important and maybe consider keeping your colors to the same or similar palate. That way there is another reinforcement that these panels go together.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the whimsical yet serious feel all of these have. I’m really excited to see the rest of the story. Even the first three are intriguing enough for me to want to find out the rest of the overall story.
